dnd

okay so i'm a huge dnd geek. last night was my weekly dnd night. ^_^ it went awesomely (is that a word?)

i used to play two nights a week with two separate groups but that got to be too stressful. as one group finished a campaign and went on to a new campaign under the new 4e rules, i backed out. having only one game a week has been a huge relief. and i'm still with 3.5e. hah. we discussed moving our game from thursdays to sundays for the winter, as it's kind of hard for me and one guy to go skydiving in the winter, one guy got a new job and will have sundays off, and the last guy is just plain too tired after a long week of working to play on thurs nights. he often falls asleep during our games. :( having thurs off will give me another weeknight to play wow! hehe.

anyways... so there is only four of us, one dm and three players. we have two campaigns going on concurrently - cowboys and hobgoblins. cowboys is sort of dnd deadwood if you will, with steam powered guns and in the middle of a revolution. it's cool. but last night was the hobs side of the game. same world, same time, just in another part. humans and hobgoblins do not know of each other yet, only goblins know of both and haven't said anything to either. green-backed bastards. ROFL

so in the previous session, our hobs found a great goblin city and we were scouting it and trying to wrap our minds around a goblin civilization. previous to this, our hob empire was the end all of all civilization and the green-backs were our slaves. this was alien to us. we have this knife that is not hob or goblin made and we've been charged by the empire to find out who made it (not necessarily the person, but the culture)

i, the ranger, scouted out the only path down to the great aztec looking structures. i came back and reported my findings. our leader, the bard, was napping (literally), so the barbarian and i took it upon ourselves to go and find out more information.

we discovered two platforms with five gobs on each at the bottom of the trail and proceeded to take out the goblins on one platform ninja style. hehe. rahka even grabbed a green-back and tossed him over the platform - he got an arrow in his head before he could make a sound. rahka came down with one goblin unconcious so we could question him... but the other platform started making noises... like calling out to the one we murdered.

so another fight ensued and sadly, one of the bloody green-backs got a blast off his horn before i feathered him. rahka and mahdra then returned to camp with their hostage. we tried to question the goblin but he was nothing but insulting. so we woke our leader and had him do his charismatic stuff on him.

grok got some info out of him and then let rahka kill him. then we did some more scouting and saw the war party below us. we set up a false camp and hid. mahdra up in a tree, grok and rahka down below... we miscounted the war party (poor spot checks) and what we thought was maybe 30-40 goblins turned out to be more than 60! ieeee!

they called out to us to surrender or die, letting us know that they could not let us go back to our people to inform them about this goblin city. well, we're hobgoblins and we don't surrender to inferior beings. grok cast haste on us - our cue to attack. mahdra took aim and killed their druid outright with one arrow. her next three took out one of the druid's guards. then rahka came out of hiding and massacred six of the eight goblins surrounding him.

nine rounds (and 34 arrows later) we had decimated the 60+ goblins. mahdra took significant damage, rahka was still over half, and grok was also in good shape. our fearless leader managed to kill one goblin (awesome for him) and mahdra took out the leaders and many others. rahka, as ususal, performed to his utmost taking out 2/3 of the goblins. hehe. he only raged when the haste ran out at the eighth round.

what can i say? we rock.

now we wait and recover in a very well hidden camp. our npc druid (who did nothing in the fight) is out scouting this time. we know they're looking for us and they're worried now. hah.

out of game - we are three L7 hobgoblins with one npc - our leader cast haste, invis, and one cure spell on rahka during the fight. our npc did nothing. we fought 4 L6 warriors, 1 L5 druid, 2 L7 warriors, and dozens of L2 warriors.

mahdra needs to make a lot more arrows...
