mishmash

got some play time in this weekend. yay. IC rogue 70 managed to get enough tokens for brew of the month club. think brewfest goes for another week?

IC mage 54 is very close to 55... found the best place for him to quest and level... too bad i have to be at least neutral with timbermaw to get to winterspring. sigh. not even half way in rep. i hate rep grinding. it's the worst.

Skywall (sky) rogue hit 64 and is still cleaning up zangarmarsh. hoping to do UBRS or underbog this week. i have no dnd this thurs and the guild isn't running kara this week so it's looking good for instances.

still haven't done the parade thru stormwind for IC rogue70. heh. one of these days i'll get around to it.

dnd

okay so i'm a huge dnd geek. last night was my weekly dnd night. ^_^ it went awesomely (is that a word?)

i used to play two nights a week with two separate groups but that got to be too stressful. as one group finished a campaign and went on to a new campaign under the new 4e rules, i backed out. having only one game a week has been a huge relief. and i'm still with 3.5e. hah. we discussed moving our game from thursdays to sundays for the winter, as it's kind of hard for me and one guy to go skydiving in the winter, one guy got a new job and will have sundays off, and the last guy is just plain too tired after a long week of working to play on thurs nights. he often falls asleep during our games. :( having thurs off will give me another weeknight to play wow! hehe.

anyways... so there is only four of us, one dm and three players. we have two campaigns going on concurrently - cowboys and hobgoblins. cowboys is sort of dnd deadwood if you will, with steam powered guns and in the middle of a revolution. it's cool. but last night was the hobs side of the game. same world, same time, just in another part. humans and hobgoblins do not know of each other yet, only goblins know of both and haven't said anything to either. green-backed bastards. ROFL

so in the previous session, our hobs found a great goblin city and we were scouting it and trying to wrap our minds around a goblin civilization. previous to this, our hob empire was the end all of all civilization and the green-backs were our slaves. this was alien to us. we have this knife that is not hob or goblin made and we've been charged by the empire to find out who made it (not necessarily the person, but the culture)

i, the ranger, scouted out the only path down to the great aztec looking structures. i came back and reported my findings. our leader, the bard, was napping (literally), so the barbarian and i took it upon ourselves to go and find out more information.

we discovered two platforms with five gobs on each at the bottom of the trail and proceeded to take out the goblins on one platform ninja style. hehe. rahka even grabbed a green-back and tossed him over the platform - he got an arrow in his head before he could make a sound. rahka came down with one goblin unconcious so we could question him... but the other platform started making noises... like calling out to the one we murdered.

so another fight ensued and sadly, one of the bloody green-backs got a blast off his horn before i feathered him. rahka and mahdra then returned to camp with their hostage. we tried to question the goblin but he was nothing but insulting. so we woke our leader and had him do his charismatic stuff on him.

grok got some info out of him and then let rahka kill him. then we did some more scouting and saw the war party below us. we set up a false camp and hid. mahdra up in a tree, grok and rahka down below... we miscounted the war party (poor spot checks) and what we thought was maybe 30-40 goblins turned out to be more than 60! ieeee!

they called out to us to surrender or die, letting us know that they could not let us go back to our people to inform them about this goblin city. well, we're hobgoblins and we don't surrender to inferior beings. grok cast haste on us - our cue to attack. mahdra took aim and killed their druid outright with one arrow. her next three took out one of the druid's guards. then rahka came out of hiding and massacred six of the eight goblins surrounding him.

nine rounds (and 34 arrows later) we had decimated the 60+ goblins. mahdra took significant damage, rahka was still over half, and grok was also in good shape. our fearless leader managed to kill one goblin (awesome for him) and mahdra took out the leaders and many others. rahka, as ususal, performed to his utmost taking out 2/3 of the goblins. hehe. he only raged when the haste ran out at the eighth round.

what can i say? we rock.

now we wait and recover in a very well hidden camp. our npc druid (who did nothing in the fight) is out scouting this time. we know they're looking for us and they're worried now. hah.

out of game - we are three L7 hobgoblins with one npc - our leader cast haste, invis, and one cure spell on rahka during the fight. our npc did nothing. we fought 4 L6 warriors, 1 L5 druid, 2 L7 warriors, and dozens of L2 warriors.

mahdra needs to make a lot more arrows...

onyxia again...

popped onto my IC 70 rogue. gah i nearly forgot how to play subtlety! and here i was lamenting how much i missed shadowstep on my skywall combat rogue rofl! i kept messing it up last night.

anyways... did the brewfest stuff since she's my very first char and really my only char to ever do the holiday quests. got a chance to finish up the onyxia attunement to the stormwind parade. think i'll install fraps and make my own video of it tonight. ^_^ also attempted the actual brd brewfest quest. we all died twice (only three of us, my sub rogue, an enhancement shaman, and a prot warrior) so it wasn't pretty. but we managed to get a couple more guildies in and then the killin' really started. i got a rogue trinket, and after doing the whole thing i think four or five times successfully, nothing else but trinkets dropped. no kodo, no ram, no dagger that looks like a broken bottle (i was really hoping for that)

with the addition of other guildies, i had to switch from skype to vent. i hate vent. my skype/vent computer is separate from my wow rig. just easier on the resources considering my outdated crap. what i hate most about vent is the push-to-talk. when your push-to-talk button is the ~ and is on a separate keyboard that you can't reach while playing wow... well it sucks. i tried to set it up for not push-to-talk but vent wasn't having any of that. plus, when i do manage to press ~ i get the sound of a key being pressed too many times and that interferes with my talking so i end up on vent not saying anything at all.

gods it makes skype look wonderful.

my skywall guild uses skype exclusively. it's free. no need for a server. and you can have up to ten ppl in a conference call. i don't think we have ten ppl in the guild with a 70 yet. i know we have more than ten 70s but some of them have more than one. hehe. we think it's a big night if we get more than eight ppl online at once!

bye bye onyxia attunement...

soon so very soon we lose the quests that let us parade through stormwind to confront onyxia and show off how bad-ass we are. heh. my guild helped me get to that part last night. we even got it on video! (don't have the link yet)

it makes me sad to think of how many new players since BC have never seen the parade. there were plenty of folk who asked us what was going on... high level dranei mostly hehe.

i still haven't done it horde side yet. i have no idea what their side does with onyxia. by the time i get any hordies up that high, it'll all be gone.

you can still take her out, but it's the quest chain that will disappear. i'm glad that one of my chars has finally managed it. he's not even my 70! i think my IC 70 is at the jailbreak part. wonder if i can get that done this weekend?

so what happened?

with AoC?

i realize that i sort of just abandoned that... hehe. well to make a long story short, i got started in the game later than my friends, had hardware issues playing, and ended up being so far behind that i could never join in with friends to play. the graphics problems were awful as was the lag.

i primarily played a ranger... i would hit the combo button and the key presses would show up on the screen, so i would hit the number keys corresponding to the combo keys, and nothing would happen... it just lagged so much, i rarely got the combos off cuz it didn't seem to recognize my key pressing.

it would say up arrow and i would press the #2 key and it would do nothing, so i would spam the #2 key till finally it registered and then the diagonal right arrow showed up on screen. then the combo would time out before the game registered that i was spamming the #3 key...

bah.

i give AoC this much, it was a very pretty game, especially on other ppl's computers. i'm running shite for gaming rigs and i just don't have the cash to upgrade to the point of making AoC playable. that and my friends all quit playing anyways. no point in playing if i have no friends online either.

most just quit mmo's period. they're playing civ and spore and stuff like that. one friend went to LotR and is now in the WAR beta. i went back to wow and my skywall guild.

a coworker asked me if i was going into WAR... i said nah, no point. it just doesn't seem to interest me. i was thinking a bit about LotR... but honestly, if my shite rigs can barely run AoC, can they honestly do any good for LotR? i think i'm stuck on wow for now... as its graphics requirements aren't that harsh. ^_^

some quests take forever

finally finally hit zangarmarsh on the new rogue... geh. just made it to L63... herb and first aid are maxed. ^_^ i swear this is the fastest i've ever levelled. my first and only 70 took three years to level!

just needed two more bubbles and figured i'd do these last two quests in the dead mire... twenty mins before bed, should be lots of time. noooooooooooo. not at all. it was midnight before the quest crap all dropped and i could go back to town. :(

had a guildie help me do the last of my group quests in hellfire. i really hate hellfire. this rogue is my third character to hit outlands, my first struggled through behind all my other friends. my second skipped hellfire and went straight to zangarmarsh and is now wallowing in terrokar. heh. my first hit 70 in nagrand and i tried some dailies, got bored and started levelling others.

i'm not much for endgame really. and i'm not much for raiding. i do like the occasional instance run but i'm not going to schedule time every week to do a raid... gods i'm so moody that i'd get kicked for not showing up cuz i didn't feel like it!

meh.

wow this post is scattered. but that's okay, cuz i'm really scattered this week... :P

time passes...

pretty much given up playing on Icecrown... what few friends i have there never speak to me... can't talk - raiding. well bloody hell.

been playing on skywall... new guild, and these folk do talk. and are very helpful. they even chat while raiding, instancing, and bg'ing.

after the disaster of AoC, i came back to wow just for this guild. i do wish i could transfer my IC chars over to skywall... but blast it, there's another person with my main's name on this server and i'm not about to change mine. what to do?

level up a new rogue. heh.

New MMO?

age of conan. huh.

got my collector's edition tuesday, installed it on mao's computer. only got to play for about an hour on wednesday. took three tries to install it on my computer at home and as of this morning, installed but not patched. oh and no access
